My Personal Trainer Says It won’t Always Hurt

For the love of God I hope she is right, but it’s really not too bad, it really only hurts when I try to… you know… MOVE. My workout with Suzie was so much fun last night, it was hard, really hard, but I felt so accomplished afterwards and I felt good.

I’m so dedicated to the exercise thing, really. I worked out with my Personal Trainer Suzie from 5-6pm then I was off to the gym at midnight to swim. My time has increased in the pool with the addition of the Underwater MP3 player that I got for Christmas. Apparently the music gets me going faster. I’m up to 27 laps in 60 minutes. My goal is to get to 35 in fewer than 60 minutes. I’ll get there someday. After swimming I stayed up working late and then hit the gym at about 8:00am to get my 60 minutes of cardio in. I took it a little easy on myself because I knew that I was already sore instead of doing the whole hour on the “Weight Loss” program, I decided to do 15 minutes normally, 30 minutes on the “Weight Loss” program and another 15 minute normally. I just didn’t think my thighs could handle 60 minutes of that on and off level 8 resistances after what Suzie did to them yesterday.

So back to my work out with Suzie, truly freaking amazing! I can’t even recall everything we did, but we did stuff with kettle bells, medicine balls, resistance bands, we did squats, lunges, we used some free weights, we did step ups, and we ascertained that my balance sucks and I can’t do a push up to save my life, but Suzie promises that will all change if I stick with this, and well, when it comes to exercise I’m pretty damn dedicated so we’ll see what happens, I’m excited to see the changes and progress that this will bring.  I’m glad I made the decision to work with Suzie, I don’t think I’d ever have had the confidence to even TRY some of the things she’ll get me to do without knowing there is someone there making sure I’m doing it right.

So in other news today I once again used the amazing Ninja Kitchen System that my mother got me as a Weight Loss Surgery gift. This is probably the most used appliance in my kitchen. I used it constantly. I used it for everything from mixing, to chopping, to pureeing. There really just isn’t much this thing can’t do. My mother is great at picking out kitchen appliances for me. Several years ago she gave us a Rotisserie for our wedding anniversary, and Jason and I have used the hell out of that Rotisserie, no kidding, used the hell out of it. The only thing she’s ever got me for the kitchen that I didn’t like was the Mandolin Slicer, yeah I got rid of that thing after trying it a handful of times and just wanting to chuck it out the damn window.

I’m happy to report that I made a scrambled version of yesterday’s omelet with about ½ the ingredients and added some avocado slices. It was a super yummy breakfast.  I also made up a batch of Shelly’s High Protein Avocado Dip I used 0% Fage instead of the 2% to get the fat down a bit, but I’m telling you this is an AMAZING Avocado Dip. You can’t even tell there is cottage cheese in there, and you can hardly taste the greek yogurt. I wanted to add a little salsa but I was afraid it would make me scarf it down rather than just enjoy it a little at a time. There is a small margarine tub size ( about one cup ) of this avacado dip sitting in my fridge waiting for me to find something to put it with for lunch tomorrow!

Dinner tonight was a recipe I got from my friend Xeniak over at Thinner Times, I’m calling it Xeniaks General Tso Chicken. It was so delicious; I couldn’t eat it all but it was seriously yum. I only had about ½ the Riced Cauliflower that was on my plate and left a couple pieces of chicken behind, but Jason finished his plate and when I can get him to do that on a pouch friendly recipe, that’s a damn good thing! So Thanks Xeniak, this is definitely going on the list of things I will add to the approved list.

I’m off to take a nap before I drag myself to the gym and try to loosen up these muscles swimming and then soak them in the tub a bit. I’m sure several of my friends could find plenty of jokes to make about my thighs hurting right now, luckily they are all too quite about commenting on my site to post them!

Crazy Co-Addictions

Yes I have them. I have them bad. Lately I have been struggling HARD with the whole not smoking thing. I will admit that I broke down and had a cigarette. 8 months of not smoking and I was stupid and broke down and had one and ever since it’s CRAZY hard not to go back. I’ve been trying to find other things to keep my attention keep my focus and keep me busy.

Yes I just know all of you reading this are pulling your hair out right now and want to bitch slap me. Heather is going to freak and want to kill me. my mother is going to be so disappointed. Tom is going to tell me I should have known better, and Steven is going to tell me that I need to not abuse things. I know, I know, now the question is HOW do I make it stop, that horrible craving for a cigarette after having just ONE? Okay maybe two or three at this point… Gah, I am so disappointed in myself, really. I’ll figure it out. I don’t think it’s really the actual cigarette I want I think it’s the outlet, so I think I’m going to order some of the non nicotine water vapor packs to go with the BLU Electronic Cigarette that I bought a year and half ago to try to quit back when I went to visit Tora and Colin and go to the NKOTB concert.

To stay positive though let’s talk about the GOOD things I did today. I found a IPOD APP called Pillbox that I just love. It lets me program in all my vitamins and then it’s like a virtual pill box, I can mark them off as I take them and it sends me notices if I miss something. I dig it.

I met with the woman that is going to be my new Personal Trainer today. Her name is Suzie Hamann, and she’s based out of Wilsonville, very close to where I live, she has a private gym in her garage, a very nice one in fact and she’s super cool. I was so excited about meeting her that I schedule my first session with her for TOMORROW! Tomorrow at 5pm. I have a funny feeling this woman is going to kill me in the gym, but, that is exactly what I need. I’m going to be working with her 2x a week which means I won’t be walking 4.5 miles or more accurately doing 4.5 miles on the Elliptical on those days. I’ll still be swimming at night though. I’ve started trying to eat a little bit of carbohydrates about 15-30 minutes before I start working out to see if that helps give me more energy to get through the work out. Last night I took two Wasa Crisp & Light 7 Grain Crackers and put a wedge of the Sonoma Jack Light Pepper Jack Cheese on it and ate half of it 15 minutes before I swam and the other half right after I was done and it HELPED with that seriously famished feeling I have right after swimming, it didn’t make it go away and I still came home and had my Salami Crisps which is just some Light Dry Italian Salami with a wedge of the Sonoma Jack cheese spread on each slice, thrown in the microwave for 45 seconds to melt the cheese and get the Salami crispy and then topped with a dollop of horseradish mustard. I’ll take a picture next time I make them and post it. They are ridiculously good, fast and easy and I LOVE them right after I get home from the gym. And they are 85 Calories and sport 9 grams of protein; it’s a quick and easy favorite of mine for sure.

Tonight for dinner was some of the Smoked Salmon I picked up before Christmas for Jason to make a salmon dip he likes, which I didn’t eat any of, it was just too rich for me, but he loved it. I had him save me a little hunk of the Smoked Salmon though and I had it for dinner tonight with a small salad and some of Shelly’s Cucumber Dill Refrigerator Pickles. It was a quick, easy, dinner and that Salmon was rocking 16.5 grams of protein.

For breakfast I had the last of the Sausage Pancake BitesBacon Pancake Bites and Breakfast Bites that I made on Christmas. So those are all finished up now. I had to throw the rest of the Pancake bites away, I should have only made one batch, I know better next time, I should have frozen the second batch but it just didn’t occur to me at the time.

Alright, time for me to throw my gym bag together and get that waterproof MP3 player ready to play while I swim, gotta load it up with some good tunes to swim too.
