With Summer quickly approaching, it’s time to take a break from my recent blog series “Sex Love and Obesity” and talk about something that this Obesity Rebel just really thinks you need to know exists.

Vitamins delivered in the form of Watermelon goodness.

Let me tell you something about me. My name is Pandora, I’m an RNY Gastric bypass patient and while I am supposed to take my vitamins on a regular basis to avoid malnutrition issues, I don’t.

Why? Because I don’t like taking pills. It’s not just vitamins, it’s anything that comes in pill form. It takes a ridiculous amount of pain to get me to take pain pills doctors prescribe to me after surgery. I’m that person who never finishes a prescription for antibiotics after I start to feel better. It takes a headache that would lay King Kong down to get me to reach for a bottle of Tylenol.

My genuine dislike for all things in pill form have made vitamin compliancy after weight loss surgery a continual struggle for me.

Until last year when BariLife came out with their Lemonade Multivitamin Powder.

I know what you are thinking. “Oh, BariLife is sending her to Paris and now she is talking up their products.”

Ok. I’m honest, there is some validity to that, I’m not going to lie. But BariLife wasn’t sending me to Paris last May when this product came out and I started using it.

I started using it because knowing I have vitamin compliancy issues from working with me in the past, they sent me a sample to try, and I kept using it because it has been a way for this non-pill taking post-operative patient to take her vitamins!

I know, I know, there are chewable vitamins and there are gummies.

Here’s my issue with those: Most chewable vitamins taste like vitamins, taste like chalk or taste like, what I imagine, based on his breath and the fact that he is constantly licking himself, a dog’s derriere. The Gummies add calories to my day that I’m not willing to spend on vitamins that taste like candy.

While vitamin compliancy after weight loss surgery has been an issue for me. I do drink my water daily.  In fact, I drink half my body weight in ounces of water each day. But, I don’t LOVE plain water. I often use sugar-free drink additives like crystal light and those cool little bottles of fruity goodness that let you add a few drops to make your water taste like anything you want. My favorite just happens to be the watermelon lemonade flavor.

Earlier this month BariLife sent me a sample of the new Watermelon Multivitamin Powder – and let me just say, this watermelon-lemonade loving Pandora is in heaven.

On their own, both the Lemonade and the Watermelon multivitamin powders are amazing products and a great way for someone like me that has issues with pills, chewables or gummies to get their vitamins in. They both have a great flavor, and you really do not taste the vitamins in your drink at all when you use them.

But if you asked me, the “Holy Rusted Metal Batman!”, POW!” comes from mixing them both together.

Each product calls for 2 scoops of powder per day. You’re supposed to use one scoop at a time twice a day. But, I take a half a scoop of each, put it in a blender bottle with ice cubes, shake it up and mix them together. Then I’ve got a Watermelon Lemonade flavored drink that I’d gladly sip on any hot summer day. This little concoction of mine has me taking my vitamins without even trying because I enjoy drinking it so much!

If you haven’t tried the Multivitamin Powders from BariLife yet, you can find them here.
