So I need a break from all the seriousness that has been going on in life recently and need to take some time to just be fun and light-hearted. with that in mind I decided to do a life after WLS, Post Gastric Bypass, Healthy Lifestyle Christmas list and share it with all of you.
Actually let me translate. I’m making this list so that you can forward it to your husbands, family members and friends so that you don’t end up getting plus size clothing and stockings full of candy you can’t eat for Christmas.
Ipad/Iphone/Ipod – Whichever it is that best suits the person you are shopping for, you can never go wrong with any of these. I was given an iPhone 5 for my birthday this year and a MacBook Air as my two-year surgiversary present and I can honestly say both are the most used items in my world right now. If you’re looking for something for someone in this price range you can never go wrong with electronics. One of my all time favorite presents to date was the underwater MP3 player I got the Christmas that I was so into swimming.
Exercise Gear – I think that gifts that encourage fitness and outdoor activity are a great. If I had room for it in the apartment I’d be asking for Treadmills, Ellipticals and building a home gym every Christmas and birthday. Right now, if I had my choice of any fancy present under the tree I think I’d pick a regular bike. But if you are shopping for a person that is about fitness and exercise and you want a spectacular present, figure what they might want, trampoline, bike, canoe, or maybe even a set of dumbbells and a no-rope jump rope.
Fitness Monitor – This is another thing I would LOVE to see under my tree this year. There are several different types of them out there, the one that I am the most interested in is the Nike Fuelband. It calculates your food intake, calories burned, and lots more. But if you have someone in your life that is really into fitness and exercise, this is a great gift idea.
Home Fitness Fun – Depending on who you are buying for and what they have already, this can be anything from a new Wii U, or other game console, a TV to add to the room to play an existing game console in, a fitness bundle pack like the Wii Fit or just a new game for whatever console the person you are shopping for plays. These are all great gift ideas. I LOVE my Wii Fit, I don’t use is nearly as much as I should. But the Wii U and the Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2013 game are high on my christmas list.
Gift Certificates – I know a lot of people think they are impersonal. Me, I think they are a free pass to go spend the day shopping trying on a bunch of stuff I could never wear before. I love it. I think it is one of the most thoughtful gifts you can give post weight loss patient. I can tell you that there are two things I never get tired of doing right now, trying on clothes in places I could never shop in before, and buying things in places I could never shop in before. Depending on the style of the person you are shopping for, get them a gift certificate to a store you think they might like or one you know is their favorite. Some of my biggest non scale victories have been shopping in a store like Victoria Secret for the first time. So to me, a gift certificate under my tree gives me a triple treat; a present on christmas when I open it and a present the day I get to go shopping get the experience of buying that amazing new outfit and the gift of wearing it for the first time. It’s a three-in-one present!
Romantic Appeal – Alright ladies and gentlemen, let’s be honest, what I consider a romantic and sexy present has changed a little. So here is my suggest for anyone shopping for a post weight loss patient this Christmas. Go to our dresser, look at what size bra and panties we wear and go to the store and try to pick out something in that size that you like and you think we’d like too. Now don’t underestimate the need to buy me some warm cozy jammies, but throw a sexy pair of bra and panties in there so it doesn’t scream we’ve been together for too long. And Ladies, don’t underestimate the value of sexy boxer shorts or mens underwear either.
The Gift of Tea – Tea is one of my co-addictions after I had to give up food. You can give someone a nice package of teas, a nice tea-cup, or even a nice handheld frother for making lattes at home. You can get fancier with tea sets, tea makers, tea collections and what not. But no matter what the Gift of Tea is a gift of healthy antioxidants and a great recipe for anti-stress. I also find tea is one of those things that will make me stop and take time for me. Plus its a low-calorie alternative to eating. \o/
Dear Santa,
I know that I should probably just give up now and be content to buy my own presents. I can’t claim to have been extra nice or even naughty enough to deserve presents. But in the off case that you want to stop off in my house for non-fat milk and sugar-free cookies so that you don’t end up ruining your diet or shooting up your blood sugar… here is what I’d like you to bring.
- Ipad Mini
- Bike
- NikeFuel Band
- Wireless Bluetooth Headphones for iPhone/iPod
- Shape Your Fitness Evolved 2013 for the Wii U
- Guild Wars 2
- Hand Held Battery Operated Milk Frother
- Green Matcha Tea Powder

- Pandora Jewelry
