The Nasty Thing they call Vitamins

By |2012-09-13T09:44:59-04:00October 28th, 2010|My Story|1 Comment

Okay, I’m not usually one to complain. Alright that is a lie, I am the first one to complain when I don’t like something and I have no qualms about telling you that I DO NOT like Vitamins, especially ones that taste like dirt and make me burp stuff that tastes like dirt for hours into my day. Why the hell can’t someone make a chewable adult vitamin that has everything a bariatric surgery patients [...]

Let me tell you what you can do with $5

Before I go off on this little diatribe let me send you to the story that has my blood boiling today. NAIL SALON CHARGES MORE FOR OVERWEIGHT CUSTOMERS This story was brought to my attention by a member over at the Thinner Times Forum. Unbelievable. I've been overweight most of my life. I've also been getting my nails done and getting pedicures since before I could drive a car, back when my mother used to [...]

Thoughts of a new Gastric Bypass Patient

By |2012-09-13T09:43:19-04:00October 26th, 2010|My Story|0 Comments

It started pouring rain here the day I got home from the hospital and I’m prone to pneumonia so Jason won't let me walk in the rain. I'm only getting to walk up and down the hall in my little one bedroom apartment. I thought about going to the gym tomorrow and walking a slow mile on the treadmill but some wise friends here advised against it for a few more days. I'm going to [...]

Home from the Hospital – The Panic sets in

By |2012-09-13T09:42:44-04:00October 26th, 2010|My Story|0 Comments

I'm getting a bit nervous. Today is my second day home and I'm a bit scared about the amount of liquids I can drink. It seems like ALOT to me. I am on full liquids and supposed to be trying to get 50-60 grams of protein per day. This is what I had yesterday. 8oz protein drink made with skim milk 3o grams of protein in mix 9 in milk. 4oz tomato soup made with [...]

Day Three after Gastric Bypass – Time to go home

By |2012-09-13T09:42:09-04:00October 26th, 2010|My Story|0 Comments

It’s my last day in the hospital and I’m ready to go home. I feel amazing; my nurses last night Tammy and Kristen were absolutely the most amazing nurses I have had during my stay in the hospital. They made sure that they listened to everything I said and by the end of the night they had me feeling 100{6e74c841b8f362d8aea590534016dc569fd3035eeb9e530df8846b42682c6656} better, I wasn’t nauseous anymore, I was able to go pee all on my own [...]

Day Two after Gastric – Dramatic Improvements

By |2012-09-13T09:41:30-04:00October 25th, 2010|My Story|0 Comments

Still taking notes I’ll post later on my site. Last night wasn’t so great; the nurse on duty told me I was doing really well with my fluids and that I could go ahead and drink those two ounces of Loritab she brought in. That stuff tastes horrible, I asked for something to wash the taste down and drank a little water and instantly threw up. Obviously I shouldn’t have drunk that Loritab that fast. [...]

The Day After Gastric Bypass Surgery

By |2012-09-13T09:40:50-04:00October 25th, 2010|My Story|2 Comments

It’s about 7:30 in the morning and the Transporters come to get me to take me down to radiology for my swallow test. I’m giggling all the way as I think of these guys as the Transporters and I keep having little visions of that movie with that foreign guy that kicks everybody’s butt. All of the staff in this hospital are so nice, they all smile, they are all so friendly, they all go [...]

The Day of Surgery – My Gastric Bypass Surgery

By |2012-09-13T09:39:29-04:00October 25th, 2010|My Story|1 Comment

I wish I had been writing this as it happened, so that I could have given you the raw emotions behind everything that happened as it was happening, but that was pretty much impossible, however I did have my trust IPad with me in the hospital and I was taking notes so that I knew what to write about later, so it’s time for us to catch up a bit and talk about the surgery, [...]

Hours To Go Before Surgery

By |2012-09-13T09:38:39-04:00October 19th, 2010|My Story|0 Comments

It's 4:30am as I begin writing this and I have to leave for the hospital in three hours. I had an alarm set for 6:00am but I haven't been able to sleep hardly at all tonight, this has definitely been one of the worst nights of my journey so far... My surgeon instructed me to take  Milk of Magnesia yesterday morning. It had no effect on me all throughout the day, then suddenly, at about [...]

Bumping up the Exercise & Creating a Calorie Deficit

By |2012-09-13T09:32:31-04:00October 17th, 2010|My Story|1 Comment

This week has been a pretty killer week for me. But man this morning me and the alarm on my cell phone were having a love hate relationship. I knew when I got home from the gym yesterday afternoon that my body was a little upset with me. Unlike a normal week were I work out Monday-Friday and take off Saturday and Sunday, I knew that the surgery is just around the corner and I [...]
